Did you know that around 385,000 babies are born every single day? If you are welcoming a new baby into your home soon and are looking to add a baby carrier to your newborn baby checklist, you are in the right place. We are going to go over the different types from a structured baby carrier to a sling one to wrap carriers.

Keep reading to learn more about the differences between the carriers.

    Soft Structured Baby Carrier

This is one of the most common types of carriers out there. They are comfortable for the parent and have a ton of buckles that go around your waist and back to ensure the baby is safe and secure while they are in the carrier. If you are concerned about how safe these carriers are you can read more about safety right here.

There are also plenty of accessories that you can add for extra comfort such as headcovers or chew pads. These are a perfect choice for first-time parents because you can easily put your baby in and adjust the carrier.

    Baby Wraps

This is a long piece of fabric that you tie around your body to hold your baby. The great thing is that there are limitless choices on how to wear this wrap. If this is your first time using a wrap then you might benefit from a stretchy one because it is a lot easier to master than a woven wrap.

With a stretchy wrap, you can tie it before you put your baby in the wrap making it a little easier while you get the hang of tying it. The only con of a stretchy wrap is that it does not offer a lot of support, making it best for newborn babies because they are not very heavy.

    Slings

A sling is similar to a wrap because it is also a piece of fabric that you wrap around yourself. The only difference is that this is connected with a ring. You can opt to wear a sling on your chest, back, or hip, wherever you feel it is most comfortable for you and your baby.

Before you buy a sling make sure that you double-check the measurements because they vary in size. You want to buy one that fits correctly to ensure your baby is safe. Something else to keep in mind is that you want to make sure the ring is positioned comfortably because if it’s not it will dig into your shoulder and can hurt you or bruise you.

Feeling Like a Baby Carrier Pro?

We hope that now that you know more about the difference between baby carriers, you can make an informed decision on which one is best for you. You can choose between a structured baby carrier, a wrap, or a sling.
