Rose tattoos are a staple of the tattoo community and a flower symbol that has been around for a long time in literature and arts.

    Ancient Rose Symbolism

Roses are a prominent part of ancient mythology. This includes both Greek and Roman myths. According to ancient Greek legends, Aphrodite created roses when she wept for Adonis’ death. Adonis, who was on a hunting trip with wild boars, was killed by one of them and later died in Aphrodite’s arms. She wept. The first red roses, which were believed to have been infused with blood from her husband, were seen rising up as the soil soaked them in, causing the earth to turn a deep crimson.

This explains why red roses are so closely linked to romantic love. It is believed that such love transcends death, and lives on past the couple’s short lives.

    Rose Color Meanings

Different symbolic meanings are also associated with the rose color.

    Red Rose

Red roses are a symbol of passion and strong romantic feelings for someone else.

    Yellow Rose

Yellow roses are a symbol of friendship, joy, and new beginnings. Although it was once a symbol of jealousy and greed, its meaning has since been replaced by joy and affection.

    White Rose

The white rose is a symbol of innocence and purity, as well as silence, secrecy, and reverence. White roses have been associated with new beginnings and marriages. However, their quiet beauty has made them a symbol of remembrance.

    Black Rose

Black roses are often used for Halloween and signify death or the end of a relationship, idea, feeling, or idea.
