Few things warm your heart quite like seeing a smile on your child’s face. One thing most parents can agree on is that almost everything they do is for their children, and more importantly, to make them smile.
Being a parent is a 24-hour job, however, so coming up with new ideas to delight your children as you manage the rest of your life isn’t easy. So, to help, here are some simple ways to put a smile on your little one’s face.
Give them a frozen treat:
It’s safe to say that most kids love ice cream! So, next time it’s a bit warmer outside, surprise them with a trip to get some ice cream! Or, you could always pick them up from school or daycare with a frozen treat waiting in the car for them.
Watch Cartoons with them:
Our little ones love spending time with us. If you want to make them smile, we bet they’ll love it if you sit down with them as they watch their favourite show. There are a number of great free kids cartoons online that children big and small can enjoy!
Make a blanket fort:
What makes every rainy day better? A blanket fort. Transport your kids to a different world where you can enjoy a board game, watch a film, or play with their toys.
Enjoy their favourite meal with them:
We love to eat, but sometimes our kids can get bored of the food we give them. To shake things up, sit down with them and eat their favourite meal together. If it’s a bit plain, treat yourself to something more of your taste after they go to bed.
Let them choose their own clothes:
Whilst kids might not have a great grasp on fashion, they certainly know what they like. A great way to help your child smile is by letting them choose their own clothes for a day. If you’re brave enough, you can let them pick your outfit too (just make sure they stay away from certain drawers).
Dress as their favourite Superhero:
Superheroes are popular with kids for so many reasons. Imagine how they would feel seeing mum or dad walk in dressed as their favourite superhero? Team up with them to save the day and enjoy an afternoon in the world of their imagination.
Bring out your inner kid with them:
Kid’s are very intuitive, and honest, about what they enjoy. Unfortunately, being a grownup sometimes stops us from enjoying the same things. So, take a page out of their book and bring out your inner kid! Wear a costume to go grocery shopping with them, jump in a puddle when it rains, eat cake for dinner – whatever you and your little one want.
Final Thoughts
If you’re short on ideas, or not sold on this list, you can always just ask your child what they’d like to do! Whatever it is, we’re sure you’ll love to see that smile on their little face!
