Whenever we talk about dentistry procedures, we are always intimidated by the drilling methods. This drilling causes anxiety among the people, and thus, they refrain from going for the treatment. However, we have a brilliant drill-less dentistry pattern with less worry of invasive needles in modern technologies.

So, what is this drill-less dentistry, and how can you take advantage of such treatments? This article will discuss such methods and understand the possible benefits of drill-less dentistry. In Glen Oaks, you can also get professional advice about dental procedures from the dental practice in Glen Oaks, NY.

    What is Drill-Less Dentistry?

Drill Less dentistry, as the name suggests, is a procedure in which you treat your teeth without using drills. It is replaced by the air abrasion or microabrasion method, in which there is no drilling in the teeth, and a mini sandblaster is used to make a hole in the teeth.

What is the Air Abrasion Method?

In the air abrasion method, an instrument is used, a mini-sandblaster, to remove the decayed part from the teeth. Some spray or sandblasters are used to eliminate the old composite materials and remove the discoloration or superficial staining from the teeth. Thus, it is known as the drill-less method.

What are the Advantages of Drill Less Dentistry?

    • Minimized discomfort and anxiety: In drill-less methods, patients’ pain and stress are reduced. In traditional drilling methods, there are vibrations, noise, and pressure, which is unsettling for the patients and thus produce discomfort. With the air abrasion method or laser dentistry, there is no such discomfort and thus reduced patient anxiety.
    • Preserving healthy tooth structure: Drillless dentistry focuses on keeping the tooth structure as much as possible. Therefore, unlike the traditional drilling system that removes a significant portion of the tooth, drill-less methods are precise and more conservative. This method removes only the affected area, reducing the unnecessary removal of healthy enamel.
    • Faster healing and recovery: Another advantage of drill-less dentistry is that it heals faster and significantly less recovery time. Traditional drilling can cause trauma and inflammation to the surrounding tissues, making recovery take longer. On the other hand, a drill-less procedure is minimally invasive and causes less trauma to the gums and surrounding tissues. Patients have to suffer less, and they can resume their normal activities sooner than the drilling method.
    • Enhanced Precision and Accuracy: One of the essential advantages of drill-less dentistry is enhanced precision during procedures. Precision allows dentists to perform delicate procedures such as gum surgeries, cavity preparations, and other methods accurately and with improved results.
