The New York Times reported in 2019 that New York City sees around 67 million tourists each year. It is arguably the most popular tourist destination in America.

People visit New York City for its extensive culture, incredible food, and high-paced atmosphere. With that being said, it’s easy to lose your way in the big apple.

Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. This is the ultimate list of things to do in NYC. We included a few touristy destinations, as well as some hidden gems to really get a feel for the city.

Without further ado, here are our top 5 things you must do on your next NYC trip!

    1. Take Pics in Times Square

No trip to NYC is complete without a stop in Times Square. If you’re worried about being too touristy, you can just stop for a few minutes on your way to another destination.

But, if you have the time, take a moment to realize how NYC is alive and breathing. Lights are blinding, people are bustling to get to work, and you’re a part of it all (even if just for a moment).

    2. See a Show on Broadway

New York City wouldn’t be as alive as it is without the echoes from Broadway.

We highly suggest buying your tickets in advance if there’s a show that you desperately need to see. Try using ticketsonsale.com to get a discount on regularly priced Broadway tickets!

Helpful Hint: You can also find tickets to sports games, comedy shows, and concerts on this site!

If you’re not as picky, you can try to walk up to a theater’s ticket office in the morning to see if there are any last-minute seats available for later that day.

    3. Ride the Staten Island Ferry

This activity is perfect for those wanting to see a stellar view of the NYC skyline for free! That’s right, travel to Staten Island is completely free through the ferryboat.

The Staten Island Ferry takes you over to one of NYC’s five boroughs. Once there, you can visit the zoo or explore one of their many museums.

    4. Watch a Show at Comedy Cellar

Secure your tickets early because shows at this world-famous club go fast. Master comedians like Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld got their start here, and you can still catch some famous faces like Aziz Ansari popping in every so often to perform.

    5. Explore the Bronx Zoo

You probably won’t find this location very relaxing, but who goes to NYC to relax? The Bronx Zoo is just as alive as the city is, boasting over 700 different species of wildlife.

Just by visiting, you are supporting conservation efforts around the globe! This zoo is AZA-accredited, so part of your ticket cost goes directly to helping animals.

Want More Things to Do in NYC?

Whew. Fitting NYC into only five must-do’s is not an easy task. We’re confident that if you fit these into your trip, though, that you’ll maximize your enjoyment of this great city.

We’re confident that if you fit these into your luggage storage in London, though, that you’ll maximize your enjoyment of this great city.
