Planning a funeral service is one of the most stressful things you can go through in your life. And that stress is not only bad for your mental health, but it can be bad for your physical health, too.

In this article, we’ll give you some advice that you can use to make things easier for yourself, as well as your friends and family members. That way you can have peace of mind knowing that you’re prepared to plan a funeral service.

    Things Will Move Fast

One thing that catches people by surprise when planning a funeral service is just how fast everything happens. It’s not abnormal to start planning for a funeral and have that funeral within 5 days or so.

Because of this, things will move fast and be quite overwhelming. It’s important to remember that this is normal and to not feel overwhelmed, as a funeral home won’t let you forget anything important.

    You’re Going to Need Help

To piggyback off of that last point, when you’re planning a funeral, you’re going to need help with everything. Thankfully, funeral homes are very much open to giving you that help, so you won’t be alone during any step of the process.

With that in mind, if possible, relying on the help of a few family members, or even a friend or two, is always recommended. That way you can make sure that the entire planning process isn’t all on your shoulders.

    Insurance May Not Cover Everything

One of the biggest shocks that can come when planning a funeral is finding out that insurance isn’t going to cover the entire funeral cost. That’s why we recommend that your first call is to the insurance provider in question, so you can get an idea of what is and isn’t covered.

Also, you can relay this information to the funeral home service, so they know what you can and can’t do budget-wise. That’ll help you make sure that there aren’t any unexpected expenses that pop up along the way.

    You’re Not Alone

We touched on this briefly a moment ago, but it’s worth mentioning again how important it is to lean on other people during this time. You may feel pressure to be the stable “rock” for everyone while planning a funeral for the loss of a loved one.

But doing so can be bad for your physical and mental health, which of course isn’t a good thing.

Again, let those around you, including the people working at a funeral home, help you out. Don’t feel like you need to be a superhero at the moment, because what you can give is more than enough.

Need More Help Planning a Funeral Service?

As you can see, planning a funeral service is an overwhelming process that flies by rather fast. That’s why important to be organized, and get help when you need it, so you can make things go as smoothly as possible.
