The holiday season is a time for extravagance; in fact, the average American spends nearly a thousand bucks on the holidays every single year. And why not? This is a time to cut loose, relax, and indulge. You earned it!

But if your festive plans involve a holiday party this year, there are some crucial things you need to know. Throwing a killer party is harder than it sounds, and if you don’t commit to party planning, you might accidentally end up with a total dud.

But fear not! We’re here to lay down our top tips for planning a party. With these in your pocket, you’ll be more popular than Santa Claus himself!

    1. Budget, Budget, Budget!

Yep, it’s far from the most exciting part of a party, but making sure you keep a budget and an inventory is utterly crucial to throwing a great party. If you don’t you could end up overspending on one area to the detriment of others, or underspending across the board.

Either way, you’ll be left with a lot of bored and upset guests. We don’t want that!

    1. Plan Fun Events

Sure, one of the best parts of a party is just letting everybody dance, mingle, and enjoy the various libations on offer. But a party without events just isn’t complete! Plan ahead and pick out some fun games, maybe even organise a secret Santa using a holiday gift guide.

Just, you know, make sure everyone has something to do.

    1. Prep Your Living Space

Your home is designed around a small number of people: you and (maybe) your family! Your party is going to have, well, a lot more people than that standing around, so you need to make sure your home is equipped to accommodate them.

Move furniture, secure fragile objects, and just generally make sure no one’s going to be walking into or tripping over anything as they enjoy your festive treat!

    1. Delegate!

The hardest task of all! Being a good host is a huge task, and the truth is you can’t do everything by yourself. Offload some of the work, like cooking food and preparing drinks (or even tidying up the next day), to any helpers you have available.

And if there aren’t any helpers available? Don’t be afraid to hire staff! That professional touch can really elevate your party to the next level and make your guests feel incredibly special.

    A Holiday Party to Remember

So there you go, folks, a handy guide to making sure you throw a holiday party for the history books. Whether it’s a small soiree or a massive blowout bash, by planning ahead and being smart, you can make sure everyone goes home from your party full to the brim with festive cheer.

And, let’s be honest, a great deal of eggnog.
