At times, despite all necessary precautions and keeping up with regular dental appointments, you may have concerns that need attention. The truth is, a significant number of people take dental care for granted and often don’t follow basic oral hygiene habits. In this post, we are sharing symptoms that need the attention of a Manhattan, NY dentist.

    1. You have experienced bleeding while brushing or flossing: Your gums are an indicator of your oral health. If you have noticed unusual bleeding while following regular hygiene habits, it could be a sign of periodontal disease. The good news is early signs of gum disease are usually reversible, and it is best to see a dentist immediately.
    2. You have pain in a tooth after RCT: Root canal therapy helps fix a tooth that has deep decay. While the success rate of the procedure is considerably high, it may be necessary to repeat RCT. If done right the first time, you wouldn’t have any symptoms after the crown is fixed. If you have been experiencing sensitivity, book an appointment soon.
    3. You have a toothache: Pain in teeth and gums can be unbearable, and more often than not, these symptoms are related to decay, injury, or dental disease. While you can take an over-the-counter painkiller for immediate relief, consider consulting a dentist to find the underlying cause.
    4. You have persistent bad breath: If you have been brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash regularly but are still dealing with bad breath, it is a matter of concern that need attention. Check with a dentist to find if there are cavities or other gum concerns that need attention.
    5. You have pain in your wisdom tooth: Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars that can cause considerable pain, and if you have been in pain, check with a dentist immediately. They could either consider antibiotics to heal the gums or can extract the tooth.
    6. You have frequent mouth sores: While a mouth sore once in a while is not something to worry about, you need dental care if the symptoms don’t get better within a week. If you have mouth sores that haven’t healed in a long time or when there are recurrent ulcers, talk to a dentist.

Whether it is about getting your crown replaced or needing assistance with a cosmetic concern, always choose a dental clinic that has good reviews and can offer comprehensive care. Don’t delay seeking help for symptoms that don’t get better within a day or two.
