The Story

My name is DeeAnne White, and I’m a former Fortune50 Executive Vice President, author, American expatriate, gastronome and lover of cricket, wine, jazz, Jimmy Choos and life.

Born in Dallas, I’ve been everything from a young wife and stay at home parent, to a busy single mother beginning my career in Orange County, California, to one of the few women to reach the top tier of the investment industry living at the Ritz Carlton Chicago. I’m now an author and freelance writer, dividing my time between Berkshire, UK and Naples, Florida.

Through it all, I’ve continued to believe that life is exactly what you make it, and I began LTCL as a guide for those who’d asked for advice on enjoying a more relaxed and cultivated personal life, while still finding meaningful success in their chosen field. Over the years, I’d been honoured to be someone that others came to with questions ranging from navigating an executive career path, to choosing to leave a corporate life to make a home, to handling both successes and setbacks, to finding ways to live a more adventurous lifestyle, to becoming an expatriate, to charting strategy for a second profession, and I wanted to share what I’d learned myself through a great deal of trial and error. I hope that the ideas shared will provide some insight into ways of building your own charmed life, not matter how you imagine it to look.

As for me, since leaving corporate America and moving abroad, I’ve been learning French, relearning how to stay in one place for longer than a weekend, marrying a brilliant Englishman, writing my first novel, searching unsuccessfully for my inner Nigella Lawson, finding ways of staying close to delightful grown children and mischievous young grandchildren who live on a different continent, making room in the wardrobe for a pair of Wellies to sit alongside the Christian Louboutins and dreaming of living in a tiny French village someday.

I believe that slow is much more elegant than fast, and that it’s always best to have chilled Champagne on hand, because you just never know when there might be something to celebrate.
