What if, just for today, everyone smiled? A big, toothy grin. The kind that leaves no doubt about your intention. I know it’s an idealistic question. I know you may even consider it silly. I still like to ponder the possible outcomes.
What if no one was too rushed, too tired, too distracted, too sad, too worried, too late, too troubled, too angry, too overwhelmed, too cool, too focused, too busy, too lost, too important, too uncomfortable, too affected, too impatient, too mean, too apathetic, too bored, too sullen, too dark, too cantankerous, too grumpy, too haughty, too embarrassed or too shy to smile the kind of megawatt smile that could light up a small village?
Who’s day might be changed? How might it be changed? What kind of domino effect could that create? Are the consequences both large and small? Is an argument between friends diffused? Does a day at the office seem a pleasure? Is violence in a home avoided? Does that one person decide to give the world one more chance?
I guess we’ll never know what a passing smile might do for someone today, but why not take a chance and then just imagine?

A girl can dream! Did you know it takes half the muscles to smile as it does to frown? Man, how freaky would it be to walk down a street and see everyone smiling? A glimpse of heaven, I think.
Smiling now,

Wouldn’t it be fantastic?!! I love to imagine it.
Thank you for the comment Lisa!

I get the comment all the time “You are just always happy, aren’t you? Smiling and happy.”
Only occasionally does it get old. Like when I’m smiling but really feeling like crying. The majority of the time, however, it just makes life easier to smile. People react better when you are smiling. People can tell you are a nice person when you are smiling. People smile in kind when you are smiling.
That would be a great day, if everyone smiled.
Thank you for the comment Elisa! You do seem like such a happy person, and it really does draw people to you!

Well, I’m smiling now! I have had a cold so I’ve been a little been down in the dumps, concentrating on getting better. I can just slow down and smile.
My friends say my laughter and dimpled-smile is contagious, but it’s not only because I genuinely love to laugh, but because I know the affect is has on people.
Thanks for writing this. So beautiful.
You are right. A smile is a pretty powerful thing. So powerful it can actually change your entire mood. Isn’t there a study that proves that even if you’re not happy, if you just put on a smile, you will suddenly feel happier? Thanks for the reminder that more important than the hairstyle or clothes I’m sporting today is the expression I’m wearing on my face.
Smiles to you. It was so great seeing you again!

A person that sincerely smiles can literally light up a room with her smile.
That happiness and confidence is contagious. It displays a truly positive outlook on life and an upbeat attitude that can be admired by many.
Keep smiling world !
What a lovely comment Steph, and I couldn’t agree more!
